Debt Payoff Calculator (Snowball vs Avalanche)
Enter your debts below. You can add up to 5 debts.
Avalanche vs. Snowball:
Snowball: To use the snowball method, you should list all of your debts in order from smallest to largest, paying off the smallest debts first while keeping all of them at their minimum payments. This approach will pay off more debts in the beginning, keep you on track, and boost your confidence. This works to psychologically reward you as you go along, even if you will ultimately pay more in interest.
Avalanche: The avalanche approach involves paying off the debts with the highest interest rates first while maintaining all of the other minimum payments. This strategy will help you pay off your debts faster and with overall less interest.
4% retirement rule:
This retirement plan involves withdrawing 4% of your portfolio in the first year and adjusting that amount for inflation each year after.
Key assumptions:
The duration will be over 30 years.
Assumes a 60 stock/40 bond ratio
